Beavers Build it is a collaborative multiplayer online game were kids from all around the world can learn about fractions and arithmetics by constructing buildings together.
Each child suggests an approximate measurement for the walls, according to the cards that are provided to them at random. Once a suggested height is sent, the other player can accept or reject the offer and negotiate a height so that both children can make the walls the same height and ensure both sides of the building will be built properly. Bubble Function – Promotional Video
For each game release, I would produce and make a presentation video including the games designers and developers speaking about their experience.
Robo Ops
RoboOps is the sequel to Bidmas Blaster: Professor BIDMAS’ roborators have run amok and need to be destroyed. In this fast-paced action game, players practice their skills with brackets, indices, division, multiplication, addition and subtraction. The objective of this revamp was to rework the gameplay, game’s characters and user interface to make them more friendly and inviting.
This included a reimagining of the gameplay – turning it from an FPS into a 2D scroller Tower Defense kind of game.
The GUI and scenes also had a massive redesign to include new power ups and the new gameplay mechanics.
Little Rain Cloud – Promotional Video For the sound design of this game, I decided to record and work with some folly sounds – The voices of each Cloud are actually Claudia’s voice.
JetStream Riders
JetStream Riders is an exciting multiplayer game that challenges children to test their times tables and numeracy skills while engaging in a thrilling balloon race. Considered one of Mangahigh’s most popular games, JetStream Riders offers a fun and interactive way for children from all around the world to compete against one another.
Players are presented with math problems that must be solved correctly to propel their balloon higher into the sky. The key to success lies in strategically aligning the balloon with streams of air to gain velocity and navigate the various maps, while also collecting helpful items along the way.
I had the opportunity to work on revamping the UI of JetStream Riders’ marketplace, which allows children to exchange their points for various goodies, avatars, new balloons, and other collectibles.
As part of the revamp, I designed new premium characters and their balloons, which included creating animation spritesheets and multiple other assets. These new designs not only added to the visual appeal of the marketplace but also enhanced the overall user experience for children playing JetStream Riders.
The new characters drew inspiration from anime, Japanese culture, pop culture and history.
Market and Premium characters: Sketches The new characters drew inspiration from anime, Japanese culture, pop culture and history.
GDDs, Game Concepts and Game Logos
I had the opportunity to work on multiple other game design projects from the very beginning – designing gameplay, interfaces, characters and animations.
It was a particular challenge having to design games with the objectives of teaching maths, as each game would focus on a different mathematical concept and the gameplay had to be designed with a teaching first approach adding a very challenging and exciting constraint to each project.
I am also including some logo and social media work I did for other games I also worked on remakes for the company as a bonus.
